New Keywords Are Created Every Day

I see bunches of advice on you need tons of links and do comment spamming (make it relevant "of course" lol ) or it takes forever to get anything to rank in search engines and do all this nonsense to get a keyword to rank.

Sometimes none of that matters, like when there is little competition, or NO competition for the keyword phrase you are targeting.

But how is that? New Keywords Are Created Every Day

Look in your niche for current events, upcoming events, new product releases, news, press releases, etc. and you will repeatedly run into words that have little to no competition but that people are talking about.

Many times I can even find domains for these keywords that aren't registered yet.

The Usual Tools Give Usual Results

I love the Google Keyword tool, but so does everyone else.

The doom sayers are right sometimes, it is more difficult if you are using the same tool and thoughts as everyone else to try and rank the same keywords as everyone else. So don't do it.

Pay attention to the news (specific to your topic) and you should be able to constantly come up with new products and keywords that are easy to naturally rank for and get free traffic.

Keyword Variations

Even if the big news guys beat you on the quickness to getting your stories written and indexed there is still tons of opportunity to grab long tail phrases for new words with variations like keyword "compare, keyword "buy", misspellings of the keywords, time based keywords like 2008 mothers day, etc.

Keep Your Head Up

There are keywords created every day. Don't listen to the people that say ranking "any" keywords is hard, they are just trying to rank the wrong keywords ;)

Add your comments by visiting the original post: New Keywords Are Created Every Day

The preceding text is Copyright www.45n5.com for fun and profit - Full Disclosure

I wanted to give a quick link and shout to one of my Youtube buddies BrianOnVideo.

Brian makes a decent living buying expired domains and then mixing wordpress with ebay rss feeds on them and talks about it all in his videos.

If you just want the goods he just released an ebook (for a fee) explaining it all at Net Marketing Course.
If you have some time check out his archives: BrianOnVideo and be sure to subscribe.

Mashup Money

The second most popular page over the past year at 45n5 has been the mashup script that takes youtube, ebay, and amazon and mashes them up on a single page. Many of you are interested in mashups.

One of the most frequently asked questions here is about product api's, programming, and mashups.

Something I've wanted to do here for a long time is create a "pro" version or paid area of this site where we can all help each other.

Take all that, mix it together, and out comes my newest project in the making: MashupMoney.com

What's old is the idea, taking bunches of product data and making a unique page with it.

What's new is I'm going to let 100 other people use the mashup tool and create a private forum for us all to chat in private and help each other.

The mashup tool will start simple with a few api's and more will be added over time. You won't need to know how to program or even have hosting to use the hosted script, it will be a push button solution.

The subscription will be $49 per month. Hopefully the value of the private forum alone will be worth the amount however the goal will be for every member to at least make $49 per month with the tool :)

I hope that price is enough to be affordable yet keep away the time wasters.

I'm purposely not doing an affiliate program for the site because I don't want to jack up the price for the members just to pay out to affiliates. Hopefully you see the value.

100 Members Only

There will only be 100 members total at any given time allowed to be a part of MashupMoney.com.

This isn't some marketing technique, rather we don't want to compete with each other so many more members and the keyword choices would get real scarce. In other words, if one member creates a mashup page on "Canon Powershot" then no other member can do the same.

Plus 100 is a nice manageable group. So seriously, 100 only, ever. If someone leaves you can get in later, either way you'll want to be on the list.

Mashup Money

If you are interested in working with a group of like minded individuals on creating some mashup affiliate sites that hopefully make you some money MashupMoney.com and subscribe to the newsletter.

Most of the details will be released through the newsletter, including future openings, so you should sign up.

I'm looking forward to this project and working with some of you. There will be an earnings roll call at the beginning of each month which I will probably do programmatically (ie, you can't do anything till you enter your sites earnings) so there should be no guesswork in how much the community is making or whether it's worth it to be a member after a few months ;)

Obviously I want you to succeed and will try my best to get you to ;)

Sign up for more details coming soon:

Should You Link All Your Websites Together?

When I first started building sites there were many people that said you shouldn't link your websites together, and if you do then do it with caution.

Back in the day spammers would love linking tons of sites together.

As time went on some blog networks were showing up and linking dozens of sites together without much ill effect.

I've successfully made my own little network of up to 15 sites and it didn't seem to hurt anything.

However I still wonder, will linking my sites together ever hurt me in the search engines? Will google flag me as a spammer? And if yes, at what point?

What's the current opinion on whether or not to link your sites together?

Add your comments by visiting the original post: Should You Link All Your Websites Together?

The preceding text is Copyright www.45n5.com for fun and profit - Full Disclosure

How To Make A Profitable Minisite

Minisites are all the rage at the moment. Go find a script that makes a quick site, load it up with some keywords, then wait for the money to roll in ;) LOL

I'll give you some pointers I use when making a profitable minisite and then hopefully you can add some ideas in the comments and make a real good post here.

What Does It Take To Be Profitable?

A .com domain only costs $7 at most registrars. I highly recommend you go with a .com.

(if you are a sucker for the dirt cheap .infos (like I am sometimes) well, just remember you are going to be paying the same as a .com to renew the thing forever except you are stuck with a stinky .info)

Hosting is almost irrelevant, you can pay less than $10 per month to host thousands of domains so we won't even count this cost.

So you need a site to make more than $7 PER YEAR and you have a winner.

Here's how I would do it.

Keyword RICH Domain

I love a keyword rich domain. I think this creates an asset for you from day one.

I'm not talking about keywordfunny.com or keyword101.com. I'm talking exactkeyword.com.

I already wrote about how you can find keywords WITH traffic as your EXACT domain name (I know I never give specifics on how to do this stuff, LOL): How To Find A Domain Name That Contains Keywords With Existing Traffic

Basically you dump your keyword lists into the godaddy bulk transfer tool and BAMMO you get a list of domains with exact keywords and already have traffic.

Building The Site

DO NOT use Build a Niche store (BANS) or Associomatic (amazon store) or any script that anybody else can download and build the exact same thing.

Think about it. You make a page/site on elliptical trainers. It takes me 2 seconds to duplicate your site. In fact many people are probably duplicating your sites and don't even know it just by picking random keywords.

Unique Product Mashups The ONLY way to fly in my book is to do some creative mashing up of the data to make unique pages.

Of course I've already talked about this here: Their Content - Your Money - An Intro To Mashups For Seo

Tracking

Now that you've got your keyword rich .com domain with some almost unique content it's time to do some tracking.

Traffic is important to track but vary's by trends, holidays, seasons, etc.

Pages in google's index on the other hand is the lifeblood of a site (assuming we are building a minisite for good old fashioned google seo).

If the pages aren't in google's index it won't matter what season it is, the traffic won't come (from seo).

I developed an in house script that grabs the pages indexed for every one of my domains. I can easily see if there is a problem or if something isn't getting indexed enough.

If you want to make a script yourself you can easily do it by modifying the script in the post: Find Keywords With Traffic But Little Competition

Only Start From Scratch Once

Another homegrown "thing" i've made is a keyword tracker. Every time there is a search query it is put in a database that is central to all of my sites.

People PAY for keyword data and most people get it free but never look at it.

You will find exactly why people are coming to your site, what keywords they use, long tail keywords, misspellings, etc.

And if they made it to your minisite through seo the terms are probably easy to rank for.

Honestly I find it fun starting a new niche blindly based on keyword research and finding valuable domains, however if you track your keywords you should find enough opportunity there to always have ideas to either

1. start another, similar, minisite

2. add more pages that are related to the rest of the site based on the keywords

Monetization

Always use affilaite content to mix up to get affiliate sales and adsense works in addition to this.

That's It

I have about 150 sites but my new goal is to get to 1000. I'm also working on systems to do this and automate as much as possible. Bunches of this will be done with minisites.

I'm not spamming or even greyhat, I just think I can make a minisite and get some pages indexed instead of putting a parking page there that can make more than $7 per year ;) I'll find out.

That's it for me. That's the basics of my minisite.

1. Find a keyword rich domain. That's an asset on day 1 ;)

2. Build a "unique" site, not something out of a box

3. Monitor your sites pages indexed to know when something is good or bad

4. Track your keywords to improve the site or make new sites

One Last Thing

I wouldn't recommend going out and busting out 100 sites tomorrow. I would find something that worked, then try it again, maybe 5 times. If it still works pretty well, THEN I would go gangbusters ;)

But what do I know, I'm only sitting on like 150 domains, I'm a newbie for sure.

Yeah this is "another twitter post" but hold on for a sec, I'm not preaching about Twitter as being a new religion or provides alternative fuels for your automobile and saves the whales. You might like this one even if you don't like twitter.

Here is a tool I'm using to have all of the 45n5.com posts automatically show up in twitter: Twitterfeed.

Basically you tell them your twitter login info and they will update your twitter account with your newest posts.

Even if you hate twitter or find it useless, it would be cool if you broadcasted your blog on twitter to give your readers another option to subscribe.

Of course if you love twitter it works for you to ;)

Regardless of your thoughts on twitter, Twitterfeed offers a dead simple way to broadcast your blog into the twittosphere.

Add your comments by visiting the original post: How To Automatically Update Your Twitter Feed With Your Blog Posts

The preceding text is Copyright www.45n5.com for fun and profit - Full Disclosure

Get More Pages In Googles Index

Today Google told us exactly how we can get them to put more of our web pages into their index:

Improved indexing of your pages: We've recently improved our indexing technology so that you can provide a more enhanced Site Search experience for your users. AdSense for search will now index even more pages of your site, as long as we?re able to crawl them, so that your users will see more results from your site in your AdSense for search results. Stay tuned for more updates on future crawl and indexing improvements!

I'm a bit of a geek for watching affiliate sites and blogs get indexed in google so i thought that was great news.

Now they say exactly how to get more pages into their index: Use adsense for search on your blog or site.

Test, Test, Test: As with anything test and see if the change works for your situation.

There aren't many days when Google gives you advice that good ;)

Add your comments by visiting the original post: Get More Pages In Googles Index

The preceding text is Copyright www.45n5.com for fun and profit - Full Disclosure

Favorite Domain Registrar And Why?

Who is you favorite domain registrar and why?

Mine is godaddy.

1. They have cheap prices. I can almost always google for "godaddy coupons" and get my .com's for $6.95

2. Customer Service 24/7. Even if I call at midnight on Saturday they will answer the phone.

3. Tools. It's brain dead simple to manage my domains there plus I've never lacked for a feature, they do domain forwarding to total dns control.

Is there any reason not to use Godaddy? I don't do anything shady or gray area so I'm not worried about getting on their bad side.

Veggies, Fruits, And Goals

Today's video rambles a bit. Basically I wanted to show off my small veggie garden and chat about a few goals. Maybe get a conversation started, maybe not.

I think it would be cool to grow a large portion of the food you consume. I planted a small vegetable garden to start learning.

I think it would be even cooler to own a few acres of land, and grow your food garden on that.

That would be the ultimate "lifestyle" to me. Relaxing but still able to afford to travel occasionally.

Currently I'm not there but would like to be.

Goals Beyond 45n5

45n5=50. $50 per day was my initial goal here and reason for the blog as I chronicled some of my adventures. I haven't set any new goal here but wondering if maybe the new goal will be choosing a lifestyle and then working towards it here? Maybe not.

Either way I'm not into expensive sports cars or giant homes.

That's Ok If You Are

If you like fancy cars that ok, I don't want to offend anyone. But I'm curious:

1. Does anyone else have similar goals as I mentioned?

2. Does anyone blog about these types of goals personally or know of others?

3. What are your goals? Certainly it's more than just looking at numbers on a check.

Now let's get crazy:

The Digital Community Farm

I was a bit disappointed in today's video because it was pretty low key and rambling however I'm glad now because it has helped spark some thinking for me. Here's something that might be cool:

In the video I talk about chronicling earning enough to buy a farm. Maybe doing some novelty stuff like the "rent my chest" or "million dollar homepage" etc. to raise funds.

As I was uploading the video I thought of this:

Raise the money to buy some land and a house from donations and advertising on the internet, BUT also allow visitors on the land ALWAYS and for FREE.

Maybe have a few small cabins where people could stay up to a week for free. Food would be free also. They would just have to keep it clean an help do some gardening.

A bit different, yes, but might be cool, especially if people duplicated the process around the country/world.

I'm not sure what would qualify someone to stay at your place, obviously you don't want people running from the law visiting, so I imagine there would be some application process that filters only honest people that are interested also creating a digital/green lifestyle.

Anywhoo, that's the thoughts for today.
Know Your Enemy - Your Blog Visitors

Did you know some of your blog visitors could be your enemy and they have weapons that could hurt you if you with google if you aren't playing by the google rules rules?

Lately when I've been reading forums and someone complains about something that is shady or in the gray area about another site one of the usual answers is "just go report them to google!"

And sure enough it's easy to report a site to google for doing things from selling text links to having their meta description being misleading to bunches of other things.

Here are two weapons your competitors and blog visitors have:

1. Google Report Paid Links Tool

2. Google Report a Spam Result

These forms are getting used OFTEN!

But I Don't Spam

That's fine, just a heads up that even if you maybe did paid links once upon a time and didn't remove that page, or if you have something that isn't up to speed on your site you might be reported.

Kill Your Competitor

Of course if you see someone ranking higher than one of your sites and implements paid links or paid reviews or misleading or keyword stuffed copy then you can use the forms to your advantage also.

Know Your Enemy

I can't believe how many people still blatantly advertise paid links and other nonsense on their blogs.

I also thought it was interesting how many bloggers don't know those 2 forms exist.

Add your comments by visiting the original post: Know Your Enemy - Your Blog Visitors

The preceding text is Copyright www.45n5.com for fun and profit - Full Disclosure
